Sisteron and the citadel
The rock that carries the Citadel has always been fortified. Nothing remains
of the Roman oppidum, no more than the castle of the High Middle Ages, made of palisades and
precarious towers. The fortress that crowns the city today is a collection of works from very
different periods, fruit of modernizations and successive covers.
The natural park of Luberon
During your holidays you’ll admire the natural sites all around the
campsite! Volonne is the ideal departure point to discover the vast, varied natural areas such as
the many gorges and canyons, the huge lakes, the sunny slopes and the high plateaus covered with
lavender fields. The campsite is surrounded by the natural sites of Verdon, Luberon and Mercantour.
Our Sunêlia L’Hippocampe campsite is located close to many gorges, the most spectacular of which
are the Gorges du Verdon; you will be impressed by the unforgettable, majestic landscapes offered
by this canyon carved by the River Verdon over thousands of years.
